Making this certificate program distinct is that anyone who passes the
entrance examination can enroll. Located in the School of Continuing and
Professional Studies, the certificates that are available are
Spanish/English Court Interpreting, Translation, and two online
certificates in English/Spanish and German/English translation. The
general translation certificate offers training in French, German,
Spanish, and Portuguese. Requirements and courses vary depending on the
chosen certificate.

The UCSD Extension program offers a Spanish/English Translation and
Interpreting Certificate. A minimum of 6 courses are required from
either translation or interpreting or both, depending on the student's
interest. The program prepares language professionals for a variety of
career environments through medical, legal, scientific, and community
training. This professional certificate only requires fluency in Spanish
and English and a passing grade on the program's entrance examination.
